Hey peoples,
I just got an interesting email from a friend I would consider reasonably reliable (govt) source who forwarded this to me: Subject: Fw: New Legislation M5 & M7 Re Speeding Fines Fines ITS UP AN RUNNING, SO BE WARNED. Subject: New Legislation M5 & M7 Re Speeding Fines M5 and the M7 are now equipped with Point to Point speed devices. Once you enter the M7 for instance you pass the etag and it beeps. At the same time a camera takes a photo of your car and records The exact time. For those who have exited the M7 they would be aware that upon exit The etag system beeps again as you leave. At the same time another camera at that point takes a photo of the Car and the time. Then the computer calculates the time it has taken you to Travel between the two points and calculates your speed. If you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given a Speeding ticket. At the present time the speed limit is 100K.P.H. And you have a Tolerance of 102 and no more. One fraction over that speed and you are issued with a fine Automatically. Remember, this is going to be a very costly experience for some Drivers. It is also going to mean vehicles will be travelling at 95 in order To ensure that no ticket is issued. What a shock some drivers are going to have when they have used this Roadway for a week and get a weeks tickets BOTH WAYS. Of course your license will also be recalled for three months and You know the rest. Take the advice and if you ignore it remember this email when You pay all those fines. Also, remember that now with the new legislation, fighting a speed Camera fine is almost impossible. You must prove the device is faulty and if you are not a technician Working on them, you have no chance of beating the fine. The Pacific Highway has a set and these are recognized as large Steel frames over the lanes with a speed camera and some distance up the Road Is another large metal frame with a speed camera. These new point to point systems are being put onto any expressway Or highway where vehicles are not able to exit between those points. Also remember that school zone cameras are not speed tolerant. Anything over, even 41, is a fine. This means people will be doing 38 to avoid any differences in their speedo readings. Tammy Umasaran Corporate Support Officer (Reporting) Corporate & Admin Support Ministry of Transport Phone: 02- 9891 8941 Fax: 02- 9891 8999 Interesting, no? I wonder how they identify cars without etag, or even if they can? If so, I know i'll stay clear of it. |

Is it just me, or are we living in an era where every single thing you do wrong results in a fine or penalty?
Speed cameras with a 2km/hr tolerance over the limit? Are they serious? I'm not defending speeding drivers here, but the fact is speedometers are inaccurate. It's impossible for someone to travel at exactly the same speed, even with cruise control. And what's more dangerous? A 10% speed tolerance or having vehicles chopping and changing lanes because some drivers are driving at 90km/hr while others try driving closer to 100km/hr? Trains. 2 mornings in a row I've seen groups of ticket inspectors walking the trains checking tickets. Again, doesn't really bother me because I've always got a ticket, but their heavy handed tactics of 1 warning then $150 fine seem unreasonable to me. People make mistakes.. Sometimes one, sometimes *gasp* even two mistakes in a 6 month period. But if you forget or lose your ticket 2 times in (I believe) a 3 year period, then BAM! PAY THE FERRYMAN $150!!! Oh, and the whole "losing $10mil/yr because of fare evasion" is a load of bollocks. See my earlier post to see why I'm over "authority" figures treating those who pay their wages like kids. What ever happened to mutual respect? Treat others how you'd expect to be treated. I sense a revolution! |

Whopper... we live in an era where half the time WE dont even know we'r doing something wrong (and getting fined/penalised etc) because the laws chop and change and are so ridiculous half the time .. or plan ignorance on the AUTHORITIES part gets you in hot water the other half of the time...
For instance i have received 3 letters since i moved here saying my address is messed up on the electoral roll... the last one said my vote has been void and i have been taken off the roll... now... i sent in the paperwork when i moved, electoral day came i wasn't on the roll so i sat with someone there and filled the paperwork again and she sealed it in front of me and was meant to be all fixed... then the last 2 letters arrived... I've emailed the correspondence asked me to and no reply... waiting for fines and all sorts of fun stuff to start arriving soon...LMAO wonder if i exist anymore lol does this mean i don't have to vote anymore???![]() |

In the interest of safer driving could a list of all known brisbane and regional area speed traps be posted. Cut and paste the locations into your post so that the list gets longer and longer and more comprehensive. Also list the mobile traps as they reliably go back to the same spots. I thought this could somehow become an Iphone App one day where sites are registered daily and users notified with alerts.
I'll start the list with the ones i have experience with: main street just before story bridge inbound burpengary north bound on bruce hwy (signs every where leading up to it) another one about 40kms north of that on bruce hwy (not sure of closest exit) herston road near vicky park golf course both sides is a common spot for the vans fairfield road just up from Fairfield gardens shopping centre on your way up to gladstone rd keep em listing...could prob plug into your NAVMAN'S / TOMTOM'S |
