The Mars Volta - Live at BCEC - Brisbane Forum

So anyway, I saw the Mars Volta again last night at the convention centre and as per usual they absolutely blew my fuckin' mind. I don't have a complete setlist but they opened with a track I didn't recognise (so it's not off de-loused, frances or amputechture) and my brother says its not off tremulant, so maybe it was something off A Missing Chromosone? Or maybe new material? All the favorites were there.. Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of), Drunkship of Lanterns, Cicatriz Esp, Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus, Meccamputechture, Viscera Eyes, Vermicide. Lots of stuff off the new album. Notably absent was L'Via L'Viasquez, I really did expect them to play this and maybe a few more tracks off of Frances the Mute (Miranda or Cassandra Gemini woulda rocked!) and my personal fave song The Apparatus Must be Unearthed (off de-loused). All up a fucking awesome show and I feel so lucky to have seen this band twice in the last 12 months! Anyone who hasn't seen them live is missing out - the shows are so energetic, the improv is awesome at one point Omar and the Sax player were trading solos note for note for about 2 - 3 minutes!
