Alright, so I'd heard a bit about this place recenty and was very keen to give it a try.
So last night a bunch of us (5) went down here for a feed. We got there about quarter past 7 for a 7:30 booking and were seated and had drinks within 5 minutes. We had some buffalo wings as our entree which was served with corn bread and honey butter -- CORN BREAD FTW! The wings were awesome. I had the Big Rib Combo as my main which was fucking unbelievable. The review I had read indicated this was a big feed with possibly too much meat. While it is a big feed, it is by no means too much and I got through it quite easily (all the while dealing with multiple orgasms orginiating from my mouth). I challenge the reviewer is a pussy as there is no such thing as too much meat. Before and after pics of this feed are attached ![]() All of our meals arrived at once and in a very timely fashion -- we ate and were out of there by 9:00pm... The service is exceptional and if you are dining with women they will love the eye candy an accents (the people we were dining with dubbed one of the african-american waiters "blackalicious" -- Guess I'm more PC than they are )Anyway I woulf totally recommend this place to anyone and I dare say I will be back there before long. Awesome food. Awesome service. American beers to go with the food (ignore the review that says there aren't). They even had bibs like in the BBQ joints over in the states, although I had to ask for this. I still haven't felt the need to consume food since we ate there. Very satisfying meal.

So we went to the Blue Smoke BBQ last Friday night, and it was pretty good.
Corn bread on arrival, but for whatever reason, we only got 4 small squares between a table of 10 people. There should have been a lot more. Looking later on in the evening at another large table, we saw that they got a *lot* more corn bread than we did. This was a bit of a letdown to start off the evening. We had a mix of Chicken Wings (Original and Blue Hot). These were great. I've been looking for good wings for ages now, and these are fantastic compared to your usual fat-soaked deep fried ones you get at most restaurants. If you're keen on wings, they've got a 50c "Wing Wednesday", awesome... We also had the Seattle Style Smoked Salmon to share. VERY tasty, a true smoked masterpiece. I ordered the Big Rib Combo (pic attached), a huge plate full of meaty treats, fries, coleslaw, and a small bowl of BBQ sauce. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. I noticed they did the pork belly in a dry-style rub which was very nice, and both the beef ribs and pork ribs were covered in a tangy BBQ sauce. While the size of the ribs were good, I was surprised the pork belly wasn't larger. For a relatively cheap cut of meat, I would have thought they would have been more generous for the $45 price tag. Vicki had the Blue Smoke Burger, $18. I have to say, we were both quite disappointed with this one, and so were a few others that got it. The burger patty itself was VERY dry. The menu claims that this burger is 100% Wagyu beef. There should have been juices pouring out of this burger, but alas there were not. It was a good night out with friends, meals were a bit hit and miss unfortunately... I think I'm going to keep working on getting my rib smoking at home right ![]() |

Blue Smoke BBQ dibbsy 2007-02-09 "I got the $23 half texas short ribs and it was a good size meal and cheap too! The full one is a large meal and only $29. Cheaper than the creek/norman and such a good feed. Texas Short Ribs FTW!" Last edited by dibbsy; October 3rd, 2009 at 02:44 PM.. |

Went there last night with IronPaw and Mkitty.
IP and I had the large texas short ribs which were insanely tender *drool* MK got the rack of lamb which looked awesome with the mad grilled corn. The 3rd degree wing sauce is more if a side sauce now and is hotter than when they used to serve it on top. ![]() |

It is official. I give up
That's right folks. I give up in finding the best ribs in Brisbane. This place takes the prize hands down. I'd like to think I know my ribs. I've cooked them many a time. I've battled with them for hours, in the quest to find the most tender, most succulent rib. In my defence, I do believe I do cook a most wonderful rib, however, now that I've had such a great strike rate with Blue Smoke BBQ, I can safely say that if I ever feel the desperate need for great BBQ any day of the week, I can go there and be happy and content on the fine quality provided. Tonight, I couldn't fault it I had the full rack of baby back ribs. Quite possibly one of the best quality racks I've ever experienced, even after buying and cooking them for myself for so long Thick, hearty, tender enough to fall off the bone, these ribs were some of the most succulent, well cooked ribs I've ever had. The mopping of the ribs with the BBQ sauce was perfect as well. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to enjoy the bite of the sauce, combined with the subtle texture and delicate flavor of the rib. All in all, one of the finest meal experiences I've ever had at the Blue Smoke BBQ, and considering it was early on a Sunday night, it just goes to show that these guys keep up the levels of quality regardless of what night it is. Resistance is futile. Get Blue Smoke. You won't be disappointed. |

Blue Smoke BBQ dibbsy 2007-06-07 "So I went there with Whopper and again after that on Thursday night. My 4th time there I decided to stray from the Texas beef short ribs and went the Kansas city baby back ribs.. And as you'd expect it was perfect in every way. Just a word of warning, they dont put the beer prices on the menu, and those stubbies of Sam Adams are $9 a hit :) I'll stick to the $7.50 turkeys. I'll be back again soon! Who wants to go there tonight? :)" Last edited by dibbsy; October 3rd, 2009 at 02:49 PM.. |

It's like food porn
A new menu..I couldn't go past the texas short ribs as I've been doing them in my pressure cooker at home and I need to take every opportunity to compare them... :P My Mother had the pork belly which was dry rubbed and looked really really juicy, my Father had an eye fillet "blue but warm" which came out just as ordered which I was impressed with. Missed out on corn bread but didnt realise until after the wings and mains.. Had my last bottle of 1988 Heggies cabernets museum reserve with it.. went well.. Pecan pie for dessert was served with an even larger mound of ice cream. win. 9/10 I missed the corn bread and honey butter.. doh! Last edited by dibbsy; September 16th, 2007 at 09:29 PM.. |

Blue Smoke BBQ Carazy 2007-10-17 "Went there last night. Was awesome as always. 3rd degree hurt me today. Our table of 9 had 60 wings then ordered mains. I shared the big rib combo with one of the girls. She's small but I'm so stoked she could put it away. We beat the meal but I'm feeling kinda full today. Main reason I'm posting is because I saw on their board that it's "Fiddy cent wings" ALL day wednesday. Not just dinner so mayhaps a few lunchtime visits could be in order. Aaaaannnnddd......Also noticed that from Sun 28th of Oct they will be having Sunday Jamacian Jerked Chicken and buckets of beer!!! I'm thinking that sounds like a pretty damn awesome combo. Looking forward to it." Last edited by dibbsy; October 3rd, 2009 at 02:55 PM.. |

Is it just the ribs that people like or are other items as well regarded?
Reading the menu, I appreciate their specialty focus on meat, no wonder there's been such a response here, they obviously take their food seriously. |

Went there with the folks one night and the missus got the warm salmon and salad and even though it was pretty rich it was very very tasty! Everything on their menu gets the double thumbs up in my books. although it is hard to stray from the ribs for any self concerning meat eater! |

Blue Smoke BBQ eyep 2007-11-07 "well.. last minute blue smoke for dinner last night.. rang up but they were fully booked so opted for some take away instead.. we got 20 wings (if you get 2 different sauces they will charge you for 2*$10 instead of $16 for 20) and a taco salad... now i'm a huge fan of wendy's taco salad in the US/Canada and this is similar but on a gourmet level.. its the usual combination of salad items with corn chips, salasa, sour cream, beans and corn! the meat must be from the texas short ribs cos its crunchy on the outside with melt in your mouth tenderness.. the wings were awesome as usual and I was able to subject myself to more 3rd degree sauce than usual.. another great meal even when taking-away! :P" Last edited by dibbsy; October 3rd, 2009 at 02:58 PM.. |

I guess I felt a little shorted on the size of the beef rib last night... I reckon if I ordered the half size it would have been the same.
Anyway, I still love the place. |

Blue Smoke BBQ Whopper 2009-09-18 "Went there Friday night and wasn't disappointed. The Texas Beef Ribs were MASSIVE, and the Kansas Baby Back Ribs were spot on. Had wings, Spinach Dip and corn bread for entree as well. I walked out of there seriously full for about $45 (excluding the $9 Sam Adams, ouch!) You know you've got superb ribs when all you need to eat them with is a fork ;)" Last edited by dibbsy; October 3rd, 2009 at 03:00 PM.. Reason: review markup |
